Bord Gáis Energy Legends Tour with Eamonn Cregan
On the eve of the second semi-final in the GAA 2017 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland winning player and manager Eamonn Cregan of Limerick will join staff of the GAA Museum on a very unique behind-the-scenes tour of Croke Park.
Limerick’s Eamonn Cregan has the unique distinction of being the only player to win an All-Ireland with his county and then manage another county to All-Ireland success.
As a player, Eamonn was an outstanding forward and was named on the inaugural All-Star Hurling Team in 1971. His achievements at senior inter-county level include a National Hurling League in 1971, four Munster titles and the ultimate prize of an All-Ireland title in 1973 – Eamonn’s first and only All-Ireland title as a player and Limerick’s first since 1940.
In 1994, Eamonn Cregan was Offaly manager when the team faced his native county in one of the most memorable All-Ireland finals. With five minutes remaining, Limerick were leading by 2-13 to 1-11 and on course to win a first All-Ireland since 1973. However, Offaly then scored two goals and five points to clinch a stunning 3-16 to 2-13 win.
This tour is part of the Bord Gáis Energy Legends Tour Series. These special tours, first introduced in 2008, provide fans with an unforgettable opportunity to hear memories and anecdotes at first hand from their GAA heroes.
